Rapper Chris Brown, who is under fire for his abusive relationship with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, on Friday named other celebrities who have been accused of domestic violence. Among them is actor Emma Roberts, who was once arrested for allegedly beating up her ex-boyfriend Evan Peters.

A look at Emma Roberts and Evan Peters’ relationship timeline:

After first meeting on the set of their film Adult World in 2012, Emma Roberts and Evan Peters began dating. 

Over the next few years, they split three times before calling off their engagement.

Their Meeting 

Following their first meeting on the set of their movie, Adult World, Emma and Evan started dating in 2012. Even though the actress acknowledged having a crush on Evan during filming, they didn’t start dating until after the shoot was over.
“Everyone thought we dated on the movie and we didn’t — not for a long time after,” she revealed, when on Chelsea Lately.

“I actually, on the set, was like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re totally gonna date.’ And I would, like, flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye because I’d be like, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ And he literally didn’t speak to me the entire movie. He thought I was so weird.”

The two were spotted quite a bit around town, holding hands and going for a stroll.

Budding Signs of Trouble

When an argument was heard coming from the couple’s hotel room in Montreal in July 2013, someone phoned the police. Authorities allegedly found Evan with a bloody nose and a bite mark after they arrived, which led them to detain Emma on suspicion of domestic violence. Emma had no obvious wounds, therefore Evan was not accused of anything. 

Shortly after her arrest, Emma was freed, and Evan decided not to file a complaint. After the altercation, she was later seen sobbing in Evan’s arms. 

The couple then issued a joint statement through their representatives, saying, “It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it.”

Peters Pops The Question

About five months after Emma’s domestic violence arrest, Evan proposed to her during the holidays in 2013 with a pink and gold diamond ring. On a few red carpets, including those for the Golden Globes and an American Horror Story event, the actress later displayed her engagement ring.

Breakup #1

The breakup of Evan and Emma’s nearly a year-long engagement was announced in June 2015. Although neither celebrity addressed the split at the time, a source close to the couple claimed, “Their three years together just ran its course. They have so many great memories together but couldn’t make it work in the end. The breakup was amicable — there was no drama whatsoever. Emma and Evan are even still friends!”

Emma later spoke openly about her split with Allure, sharing that she replaced her engagement ring with new jewellery as a reminder to be strong, and to “always love yourself, and always know what you’re worth.”

Back Together

When Evan and Emma were caught holding hands while on a walk in Los Angeles in September 2015, just three short months after breaking off their engagement, they remained on fans’ toes. Although neither of them ever officially confirmed the rumours, a source at the time told E! News that they were “seeing each other again.” 

The two of them shared several adorable social media images during the reconciliation process, including a cosy Valentine’s Day photo and a picture of them sharing a kiss on Evan’s birthday.

Breakup #2

After nearly nine months of reconciliation, the couple split up once more in May 2016. Evan removed from his Instagram account all pictures that even hinted about Emma shortly after the breakup. It was made public in June that Emma had started dating Christopher Hines.

Back Together, Again

Following her split with Christopher Hines, it was revealed that the two co-stars reconciled, giving their relationship a shot once again.

Breakup #3

According to a March 2019 Us Weekly article, the Scream Queens actress had moved on and started dating actor Garrett Hedlund after Emma and Evan had once more called off their engagement.

Following their split, Peters didn’t stay single for long either, as he started dating the singer Halsey.

Today, Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund share a child together, a boy named Rhodes Robert Hedlund.
