Sportswear brand Adidas are opening a probe into claims suggesting that Kanye West had shown pornography to members of the Yeezy design team on numerous occasions. Rolling Stone had reported that the now-befallen rapper had shown Yeezy team members explicit videos, some of which even included himself. He also reportedly showed them an explicit image of his former wife, Kim Kardashian.

Adidas has now released a statement, which read, “It is currently not clear whether the accusations made in an anonymous letter are true”. “However, we take these allegations very seriously and have taken the decision to launch an independent investigation of the matter immediately to address the allegations”, the statement further added.

The probe is being launched only weeks after the company decided to end their deal with West following anti-Semitic comments made by the rapper on a talk show. Since then, West has been dropped by brands like Balenciaga and GAP. He was also dropped by his record label.

However, it was the Adidas deal that hurt West the worst. He went on to lose his status as a billionaire after Adidas terminated his contract. This move hurt the company as well, which announced that its net income in 2022 would be slashed by half following its decision to end its partnership with West.

The anti-Semitic comments made by West were not the only catalyst that forced Adidas to reconsider its relationship with the 45-year-old. He had stirred controversy at the Paris fashion week when he wore a shirt with “White Lives Matter” written on it. Numerous celebrities came out in protest against West for his apparent insensitivity towards the Black Lives Matter movement, and Adidas too had said then that it was reviewing its relationship with the rapper.
