Who is America Chavez?

America Chavez, played by Xochitl Gomez, comes to Doctor Strange’s notice because of her power to construct portals between the dimensions of the multiverse by creating giant star patterns in the air and creating an open door.

Which planet is she from?

America’s roots and their recent revisions have caused some debate among comic readers. Originally, America came from the Utopian Parallel, a region governed by the Demiurge, who bestowed superpowers on her.

She left home after losing both of her mothers and became a vigilante, operating under the name Miss America, which hasn’t been used in Marvel continuity since the 1950s.

In May of 2021, Kalinda Vasquez and Carlos Gomez’s film ‘America Chavez: Made in the USA’ showed her upbringing in an alien cosmos.  America was raised on a private island called Utopian Parallel by her scientist mothers as they searched for a treatment for the Edges Syndrome disease, which America and her sister Catalina had inherited.

America’s powers emerged as a result of her disease going into remission, and when her parents refused to let her be experimented on by the island’s research leaders, they were killed, leaving America unable to save her sister.

After her time with the Teen Brigade, America departed the squad and helped construct the titular team in Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s Young Avengers, supporting the teen heroes with star portals and combat prowess while they travelled through space.

Interestingly, some members of the Young Avengers have already appeared in the MCU in some capacity: Hawkeye (Hailee Steinfeld), Loki (Jack Veal), Patriot (Elijah Richardson) in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, and Wiccan (Julian Hilliard) and Speed (Jett Klyne) in ‘WandaVision‘.

With Wiccan and Speed returning in ‘Multiverse of Madness,’ and Kathryn Newton stepping into the role of Cassie Lang (otherwise known as the hero Stature) in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, it appears that a Young Avengers film in the MCU is gathering traction.
