Doja Cat seems to be unleashing a can of tough love on her devoted followers, ordering them to grow up and to stop using a nickname they’ve given themselves.

Over the past few days, the rapper/singer has been receiving some disapproval from her devoted fans. It all seems to have reached a boiling point this weekend when she shot down a phrase many of them use, which is somewhat akin to Nicki Minaj stans.

In a since-deleted tweet, Doja wrote … “my fans don’t name themselves shit. if you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f***ing ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”

It’s a bit aggressive, but in other since-deleted tweets, she advises her followers to delete their accounts if they even mention her in their profile picture or username.

On the one side, Doja’s criticism of the fanbase is a welcome appraisal and critique of the “stan” culture that has become pervasive among some of the most well-known artists (Swifties, Barbz, Harries, Beyhive, etc.). But it’s also brutally honest; in fact, Doja seems to be offending her “kittenz” to the point where they’re starting to turn against her.

The Scarlet tour’s presale began on June 28, 2023, at 10 a.m. local time. At the Verified Doja Cat page on Ticketmaster, customers can pre-register for the presale.
