Don’t Worry Darling directed by Olivia Wilde, garnered huge media attention because of the controversies surrounding the film’s problematic production. Keeping the contradicting accounts of Shia LaBeouf‘s exit and alleged tensions between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh aside, the film has an intriguing storyline. 

In an interview with Vogue, Olivia Wilde described the movie as “a love letter to movies that stretch the borders of our imagination”. Additionally, she called her latest movie “The Feminine Mystique on Acid”.

What is the Victory Project?

The film follows a 1950s American suburban couple. Jack is the sole breadwinner of the family and he works for a business called the Victory Project. Initially, everything seems to be smooth among the couple, but then Alice starts to suspect that her husband along with his glossy company is hiding a lot of unsettling truths. She further develops a curiosity about the nature of her husband’s work on the secret Victory Project. This curiosity and investigation by Alice develops tension in the family as well as the community

Victory Project is an entity for which many males of the suburb work. Victory Project possesses the potential to fundamentally alter human existence. The organization Victory Project creates a utopian society in which women fulfill the desires and fantasies of the incel community. All ladies in the community are instructed to stay at home by the Victory Project, including Jack’s submissive wife Alice. 

The Victory Project is responsible for all the violence in the suburb that they live in. The trailer suggests that beyond the well-kept lawns of their opulent 1950s suburbia, there hides something more ominous.

In the trailer, some acts of Victory Project were quite evident. Alice cracks an egg and finds it empty and she sees footage of her tearing cling film off her face, or being grabbed and chased across the desert by figures in red. The mysterious Victory Project, an organization for which the males of the town work, is to blame for such strange episodes.

Frank and his CEO perma-grin are the leaders of the film’s fictional Victory Project and also the dark masterminds of such mysterious operations.
