Olivia Wilde has directed the upcoming American psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling. The movie premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 5, 2022. Wilde’s all-star cast was announced in April 2020. 

“This cast is B A N A N A S. I’m the happiest director in the world. To say that I’m honored/excited/elated/shitting myself would be a massive understatement”, Wilde tweeted on April 25, 2020. Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf, and Chris Pine were set to take on major roles. 

Pugh shared an Instagram post with d a screenshot of the announcement along with a tribute to Wilde which read, “@oliviawilde just tagged me in a picture *gasp no.1* @oliviawilde casted me in a film *gasp no.2* @oliviawilde is my idol and allowed me to be part of this freaking incredible cast. Shia.?! Chris?!?*gasp no.2*”. 

Florence Pugh will play the role of Alice Chamber, who is married to Jack (Harry Styles). Her character is a happy homemaker who awaits her husband’s return after seeing him off at the same time all the other housewives see their Victory-employed husbands off to work each day. The trailer offers glimpses of Alice doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Everything seems undeniably perfect until Alice starts to notice that everything is not what it seems. 

Pugh has previously appeared in Little Women (2019) for which she earned an Oscar nomination.

Harry Styles replaced Shia LaBeouf to portray the role of Jack Chambers. Jack is a hardworking professional and works for the Victory Project under CEO Frank (Chris Pine). Style infuses Jack’s role as a doting husband with charm. When his wife starts to question the very nature of his enigmatic work, he is determined to resist her suspicions. The former One Direction star has appeared as Alex in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. 

Chris Pine will take up the role of Frank, CEO of the Victory Project. According to the movie’s website, Frank is an “equal cooperative visionary and motivational coach”. Pine has previously appeared in All the Old Knives where he portrayed the role of Henry Pelham. 

Gemma Chan will portray the role of Shelly, Frank’s wife. She is described as his “elegant partner” on the movie website. The actress starred in Chloe Zhao’s Marvel film, Eternals (2021) as Sersi. 

The director of Don’t Worry Darling, Olivia Wilde will star as Bunny, one of Alice’s closest friends and another Victory housewife. The movie is Wilde’s second project after the 2019 Booksmart. 

Actor Nick Kroll will play the role of Bunny’s husband, Bill. The actor is widely known for his Netflix series Big Mouth, which he co-created.

Kiki Layne plays Victory resident Marget. She appears in the trailer standing mysteriously on the rooftop. Her behavior in the trailer indicates that she triggers Alice’s deep investigation into the Project for which her husband works. Kiki has previously appeared in films like If Beale Street Could Talk, The Old Guard, and Coming 2 America
