Anthony Fantano is a music
critic who has panned Drake’s recent albums and chastised Drizzy for his lack
of effort.

As a result, when the YouTuber
disclosed, “Drake Slid Into My DMs” and shared snapshots of the
alleged messages, it came as a shock to several fans.  “Anthony!
“It’s Drizzy,” began Drake’s first rumoured message. “I know we
don’t  really see eye-to-eye about music and that you aren’t a big fan of
most of my albums.”

Drake allegedly thanked Anthony
Fantano for his “kind words” on Take Care and If You’re Reading This
in the subsequent messages. “But it is what it is, you know. Can always hope
you’ll like the next one.”

The conversation then takes an
unusual turn when Drake appears to send the critic a vegan cake recipe.
Fantano posted a video of his public response to the Rap superstar’s texts on
his YouTube page- The Needle Drop.

Drake, however, disclosed the
real messages he sent Anthony Fantano a few hours after the video was released.
He posted his own screenshots on Instagram Stories, and there wasn’t a vegan
cookie receipt in sight.

Drake made fun of Fantano’s
rating scale and gave him a negative review. “Your being is a light 1. And
the 1 is because you’re alive,” he continued. “And cause you somehow wifed
a black girl.”

In the final text, he doubled
down, telling Fantano, “I’m feeling a light to decent 1 on your existence.”

Drake did not specify what
prompted him to contact Anthony Fantano, though he may have heard about his
Honestly Nevermind review.

Fantano rated Drake’s latest
album “not good,” citing a “growing sense of complacency”
in his work. “In terms of the level of effort, this is Drake’s lowest
point yet,” Fantano claimed. “He poured almost nothing into this
record.” It’s so one-note bad, so sloppily sung, so horribly underwritten.”

Fantano, on the other hand,
revelled in receiving a response from Drake, asserting he lives “rent
free” in the Toronto native’s head.
