Actor Elliot Page, who recently came out to the world as a transgender, announced divorce after three years of marriage from his wife dancer Emma Portner on Tuesday.

In a joint statement issued by Elliot and Emma on Tuesday, they told the CNN that despite the fact that they parted ways last summer, they will continue to stay on cordial terms with one another.

They said,” After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”

Elliot and Emma tied the knot back in 2018 only a few months after making it public.

Elliot came out as gay in 2014 and it was not until 2020 that he told the world he was a transgender. His ex-wife Emma, who was fully supportive of his decision wrote: “Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on E. Love you so much. 

Elliot’s ex-wife Emma is a professional dancer who works at the Broadway Dance Centre. She is known for having choreographed and featured in Justin Bieber’s music video, ‘Life is Worth Living’.

She had also participated in the singer’s Purpose World Tour.

Elliot Page is a renowned actor and is known for playing the titular role in the 2007 film ‘Juno’. He was also nominated for an academy award for the same. 

He has also worked in films such as ‘Inception, X-Men: The Last Stand’, ‘Tallulah and X-Men : Days of Future Past’.
