SpaceX founder Elon Musk and Canadian singer Grimes have broken up after being together for three years. Speaking to Page Six, Musk said the two are “semi-separated” but remain on good terms. He added that they will continue to co-parent their 1-year-old son, named X Æ A-Xii Musk.

“We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” Musk told the outlet. 

“It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room,” he added.

The former couple started dating in May 2018. Grimes then showed up to Elon’s 2018 Space X Hyperloop Pod Competition the following month. In January 2020, Grimes revealed that she’s pregnant and the two welcomed their son in May 2020. 

In July 2020, their joint feature with the New York Times went live, in which Musk said, “Well, babies are just eating and pooping machines, you know? Right now, there’s not much I can do. Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now. When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.”

Earlier this month, Grimes walked alone on the red carpet of Met Gala. Musk, who also attended the event, joined her inside.

Musk, 50, was previously married to author Justine Wilson from 2000–2008. They share twin sons Griffin and Xavier, 17, and triplet sons Damian, Saxon and Kai, 15. 

After divorce from Wilson, Musk married and divorced actor Talulah Riley twice, the first time from 2010–2012 and again from 2013–2016.

Grimes, on the other hand, was in a relationship with electronic musician Jaime Brooks from 2012–2018.
