On Monday, Elton John gave a brief statement in support of Kevin Spacey’s defense during the sexual assault trial. One of Spacey’s alleged victims claimed that he was assaulted while transporting Spacey to Elton John’s annual White Tie and Tiara Ball at his Windsor residence.
Elton testified that Spacey was only there at one party, in 2001, contrary to the accuser’s claims that the assault occurred in 2004 or 2005.

John appeared via video link from Monaco at the London court. This came about after his husband, David Furnish, testified that Spacey skipped the family’s yearly gathering the year the accuser said he was attacked.
In his testimony, John said that Kevin Spacey attended the party in the early 2000s, arrived by a private plane, went straight to a ball at his house, bought a Mini Cooper there, and spent the night. Furnish claimed to have looked at photos taken of all the parties between 2001 and 2005, and that only photos from that one year showed Spacey. He claimed that every year, all visitors were captured on camera.

Furnish claimed that Spacey’s surprise visit was a big deal and that he remembered it. “He was an Oscar-winning actor and there was a lot of buzz and excitement that he was at the ball,” Furnish said.
Sir Elton was also questioned by prosecutor Christine Agnew KC about whether he remembered Spacey attending the occasion. “Yes, because he arrived in a white tie,” Sir Elton said. When questioned further about if he had come back following the incident, he continued, “I can’t remember him coming after that, no.”
