Ileana D’Cruz, who has been struggling with body image issues for years, recently said in an interview that she is trying to overcome her insecurities about her appearance rather than focusing on the flaws. The actor urged people to “embrace every bit of them as a whole.” She also mentioned her body dysmorphia, a mental illness that involves an obsessive focus on a perceived flaw in appearance.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, Ileana said she has realised that nobody is perfect. “The moment you make your peace with that is the moment you actually get to a better state of mind,” she said.

While talking about dysmorphia, the 34-year-old actor explained how the condition works. “No matter what size you are, no matter what number you are on the scale, you will always find fault with yourself. And the problem is you end up asking people to validate your fears,” Ileana said.

Sharing her more than a 4-year-long journey with body image issues, Ileana said, “There are days when I look at myself in the mirror and I am honestly disgusted.” However, she now focuses more on the “good” in her body.

In October last year, the actor shared a self appreciating post on Instagram revealing her list of insecurities and how she does not care about them anymore. “I was meant to be beautifully flawed,” she captioned the post.

The ‘Rustom’ fame first confessed about her Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in 2017 stating that she had contemplated suicide in the past because of the illness.
