Samira
Koppikar gave some of the chart-topping numbers as playback singer like “Aaj
phir tum pe” from the film “Hate Story 2” and “Mohabbat barsaa dena tu” from
the film “Creature 3D”. She later made her debut as a composer with Anushka
Sharma starrer 2015 film “NH10”. The talented artist says that she is grateful
for the opportunities that she has received in the past but like many others, she also went through her own share of struggle.

“Everyone
has to pay their dues to different degrees and there are struggles which I
would rather call challenges in this Industry,” Samira told Opoyi when asked if
it was easy or difficult for someone like her who has no godfather in the
industry to survive on her own.

“One has
to keep working on creating platforms and generating wok. Life does not hand it
out on a platter.  My Intent to keep
creating good music (and that) is the wind in my sails. My work being recognized and appreciated means a lot to me. When my music makes people happy,
tug their heartstrings then I feel satisfied and inspired to create the same magic again,” she said.

Samira has been juggling between the roles of a
composer, singer, and songwriter. Her journey in Bollywood as a composer began with her song ‘Maati ka Palang’ featured
in the Anushka Sharma starrer “NH10”. The song evens scored a
nomination at the Mirchi awards for the Best lyrics category.

She then proved her mettle
as a composer and a singer with the song “Bairaagi” featured in
the film “Bareilly Ki Barfi” starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar
Rao.  The song has two versions – one
sang by Samira alongside singer Arijit Singh and other one is a
solo sang by her. The song gained much appreciation and the whole album was
also nominated for the ‘Best Music Album’ at the Filmfare Awards of 2018. 

Her
new track “La Ilm” looks like a song full of emotions?

“It is
a song that expresses a deeper aspect of love. The word ‘Laa Ilm’ means ‘Unknowingly’,
when two people are unaware and then love brings them together. It has received
an amazing response from the audience,” she said.

Talking
about her journey in music industry so far, she said there were challenges at different levels but keeps herself motivated with good works.

“One
has to work around them. In the long run, my intent is to create music for both
film and non-film, something that can make difference. I feel that my career is
shaping up and progressing well and there are projects in the pipeline that I
am looking forward to,” she said.
