At her first headlining performance in 23 years, Joni Mitchell will take the stage at Washington’s Gorge Amphitheatre on June 10, 2023.
Brandi Carlile first announced the news on The Daily Show, and it was later officially confirmed that the singer will perform. On the evening before Mitchell’s performance, Carlile will hold a headline performance at the same location. She referred to it as “one of the most beautiful venues in the world.”

Echoes through the Canyon also referred to as Joni Jam II, is a two-night show. The first official appearance by Joni Jam transpired when Carlile and the singer made a surprise appearance together as part of the Newport Folk Festival. Carlile reported that Mitchell told her, I want to do another show … I want to play again” after the performance concluded. Mitchell’s home has hosted several Joni Jam sessions.
“Joni Mitchell is going to play,” Carlile told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show. “No one’s been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play in 20 years … So this is enormous … and she is going to crush it!”

Mitchell’s final performances as the headlining act were a part of the Both Sides Now tour in 2000.
Mitchell experienced a brain aneurysm in 2015, which had an impact on her speech and mobility. She admitted to Cameron Crowe in 2020, “I got my speech back quickly, but the walking I’m still struggling with,” adding, “But I mean, I’m a fighter. I’ve got Irish blood!”
She remarked, “I’ve had to come back several times from things. And this last one was a real whopper. But, you know, I’m hobbling along but I’m doing all right!” after receiving the Kennedy Center Honor in 2021.
