Netflix‘s The Crown, on Tuesday, released the first look of Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Dominic West as Prince Charles for season five. The latest season started production in the United Kingdom last month and it features Debicki as the princess in the early 1990s and West as her estranged husband.

Debicki replaces Emma Corin, who played Diana in season 4. In the last season, she had married a young Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor). It also showed how she dealt with the stress of worldwide fame.

Diana struggled with an eating disorder and had an affair of her own with James Hewitt (Daniel Donskoy). This came after she learned of Charles’ extra-marital romance with Camilla Parker Bowles (Emerald Fennel).

Debicki, who is also known for her roles as Ayesha in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ and Alice in ‘Widows’, recently featured in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’.

As for West, he replaced O’Connor and recently appeared alongside Lily James in mini-series “The Pursuit of Love.” Currently, he is also filming “Downton Abbey 2” and “all My Agent (UK).”

In season 5, the duo will be joined by Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Jonny Lee Miller as John Major.

“The Crown” first premiered on Netflix in 2016. It had the premise of the British royal family through the decades that began with the death of George VI and the eventual coronation of his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1952.

According to reports, the latest season will witness the family through the Queen’s so-called “annus horribilis” in 1992. During this period, three of her four children separated from their partners, including Prince Charles and Diana.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether season 5 will include Diana’s 1997 death in a fatal car crash or the viewers have to wait for season 6, which is being touted as the series’ final season.
