The Bad All Over the World – 50 Years of Rock anniversary tour has been announced by George Thorogood & the Destroyers for 2023. Prior to arriving in the US in March, they will make appearances on the Rock Legends Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to CocoCay in the Bahamas in February.

Details of a significant summer programme will be released after the initial dates, which include the band’s first performances in Canada in three years, are confirmed.

On December 1, 1973, when Thorogood, drummer Jeff Simon, and their rhythm guitarist loaded their instruments into Simon’s Volkswagen bus and headed to Lane Hall at the University of Delaware, the dynamic rock band got its start. They covered songs like No Particular Place to Go, Madison Blues, and One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer as a trio.

The audience was initially apprehensive of them, according to Simon, but “then it was like someone flipped a switch.” The dance floor was crowded towards the end of their second set. “After the gig, Jeff and I thought ‘Maybe we’re onto something,” continues Thorogood. It was George Thorogood & the Destroyers’ debut performance.

Thorogood and Simon will tour once again with lifelong Destroyers Bill Blough, Jim Suhler, and Buddy Leach over 50 years after the band’s founding, having performed more than 8,000 live gigs and selling 15 million albums. According to Thorogood, From that very first show, we’ve stayed true to ourselves and the music we love,” says Thorogood. “We’ve decided to celebrate our first half-century by throwing the biggest and baddest rock party ever.”
