The cast for ‘Good Omens’ Season 2 has been confirmed. The Amazon and BBC series, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s work of the same name, was well received in its first season, where we saw the unlikely alliance between an angel and a demon, to stop the Antichrist from fulfilling his destiny. 

Good Omens Season 2 cast

Derek Jacobi of ‘Gladiator’ fame, will reprise his role as Metatron, while Dame Siân Phillips, who was recently seen in ‘Dune’ will be joining as well. Other cast members include Mark Gatiss, who’s known for ‘Sherlock’, the ‘Inside No. 9’ co-creators, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. Niamh Walsh returns as well.

New joiners include Tim Downie of ‘Outlander’ fame, Pete Firman of ‘The Magicians’, Andi Osho, known for ‘I May Destroy You’, and Alex Norton of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ fame. 

Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Nina Sosanya, Doon Mackichan, Gloria Obianyo, Liz Carr, Quelin Sepulveda, and Shelley Conn also return, but big names like Benedict Cumberbatch and Francis McDormand are no longer attached for the upcoming season. 

Good Omens Season 2 plot 

The six new episodes will go beyond the original source, which was covered in Season 1. It’ll see the fussy book-collecting angel Aziraphale, played by Michael Sheen, and the fast-life demon Crowley, played to perfection by David Tennant, continue their friendship on earth after averting the apocalypse.

However, a surprising mystery begins to unfurl when their life in London’s Soho is interrupted by the appearance of an unexpected messenger.

Good Omens Season 2 announcements 

Gaiman spoke about the upcoming show, saying, “We are so thrilled that we were able to get so many fabulous actors to return to the Good Omens family. Some of them are reprising roles, some of them are playing completely new characters. And we are just as thrilled by the people coming to the Good Omens team for the first time. We have an ensemble cast of astonishing talent, and seeing what they’re giving us is a daily treat. I can’t wait until the rest of the world gets that treat, too”, as per Variety.

Douglas Mackinnon, who’s also the showrunner and director, added, “We are happily working our way through filming Good Omens 2 in Scotland and these new cast arrivals will only increase the pleasure of it all. The remarkable Scottish crew are loving making the magic that is Good Omens and we can’t wait to share our stories with the world”.

Good Omens Season 2 release date

The series, which is currently in production in Scotland, is expected to release sometime in 2022.
