The Gray Man, starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles, premiered on Netflix on July 22. The Russo Brothers‘ directorial film has a production budget of $200 million.

The film also stars Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, Rege Jean-Page and Jessica Henwick in pivotal roles. It also features a cameo role from Dhanush, who was the star attraction at the movie’s premiere event in Mumbai on July 20.

One of the action sequences took a month to produce, the makers said. The sequence involved large guns, a tram car barreling through Prague’s Old Town quarter and Gosling fighting off an army of assassins. The moment cost roughly $40 million to make.

“It’s a movie within a movie,” Anthony Russo said. The Russos have been part of several of the highest-grossing and best-received entries in the Avengers series: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. These movies have made them the most financially successful directors in the world.

Although the film is a Netflix release, it also opened in cinema halls in the US a week before its streaming debut. But, there is a limited release in the States and only hit 450 screens in the country, according to the New York Times.
