A super-sized macaroni and cheese that weighed 2,151 kg (4,742 lb 2.29 oz), set a new world record. To commemorate its 50th birthday on July 29, 2022, the US-based food corporation Schreiber Foods Inc. established a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the biggest macaroni and cheese dish. According to the Guinness website, the workers prepared the dish away from the Logan manufacturing facility, which was then served to more than 2,000 people present.
It surpassed the previous record of 1,119.91 kg (2,469 lbs), which was set on September 23, 2010, in Fulton Square in New Orleans, Louisiana, by the Cabot Creamery Cooperative and chef John Folse and company (both USA).

Although macaroni and cheese is typically made as a casserole baked in the oven, it can also be made using a packaged mix or in a saucepan on top of the stove. It is common practice to add the cheese to a Béchamel sauce first to make a Mornay sauce, which is then added to the pasta. This dish is regarded as comfort food in the US.
