Leaving fans in elation, American rock band Guns N’ Roses have finally released new music after a 13-year-long hiatus.

The band that redefined the rock genre for an entire generation released their new song “Absurd” ahead of the weekend, writing in a tweet on Friday, “New. Fn. Song.”

It’s the band’s first studio release since their 2008 album “Chinese Democracy.”

Along with the tweet, they included a video snippet of the song’s official video that features a computer-generated growling Medusa.

According to Rolling Stone, the song made its debut on Tuesday when the band played it during their concert at Fenway Park in Boston.

While playing the song, lead singer and guitarist Axl Rose told the audience, “Some of you might have heard this under another name.” Reportedly, ‘Absurd’ is actually a reworked version of an earlier Guns N’ Roses song, “Silkworms,” that was never officially released.

GNR also posted another video on the band’s official Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, which showed the band performing the song live.

Currently, the band are touring North American. A tour of Australia and New Zealand is scheduled for this fall and the band is set to head to Europe in the summer of 2022.

The song has over half a million views on YouTube after its debut on Friday. In the song itself, the raucous undertones give a throwback to the early feisty years of the band. It mixes some of that energy from those Chinese Democracy sessions.

Ever since Guns N’ Roses reenlisted Slash and Duff McKagan officially in 2016, the band has heavily touring countries, playing out their old hits. So even if a reworked edition, fans must be buzzing after listening to some new music from them.

Whether this means a new album is on the way remains to be seen
