House of the Dragon is the prequel to the television series Game of Thrones. It is set 200 years before Game of Thrones and follows the fortunes of the Targaryens, a noble family with the power to control dragons. Based on George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen.
The first episode of the series premiered on August 21 and the other episodes are yet to be aired on Disney+.

The Budget
$20 million is the budget for each episode of House of the Dragon and it brings in a total of $200 million for the entire prequel series. It is one of the most expensive series on HBO in comparison with Game of Thrones, which cost around $100 million per season.

The Soundtrack
The original Soundtrack of the HBO Max series House of the Dragon Season 1 is composed by Ramin Djawadi. He is an Iranian-German composer who won an Emmy for his work on Game of Thrones. He was also nominated for Grammy Awards in 2009, 2018, and 2020.
The Timeline
Apart from the new casts in the series, it also features multiple timelines, with actors playing younger and older versions of the same characters. Various scenes in the teaser and trailer featured both young and old Rhaenyra.
The dragons in the series
There will be a total of 17 dragons in the prequel series. Ryan J. Kondalu, one of the creators of the show, also announced at the convention of San Diego Comic-Con that audiences will get to see a huge variety of these mythical beasts. Caraxes, Balerion and Vhagar are among the many dragons that will appear in the series.
Based on the true story of the English Civil War, The Anarchy
Though the series takes inspiration from George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood, it is based on a true story of the English Civil war. George R.R Martin explained at the San Diego Comic-Con convention how House of the Dragon was inspired by real events that took place in the 12th Century. He said, “Game of Thrones was based very loosely on the War of the Roses. This show was based on an earlier period of English history, called “The Anarchy”.
