HBO recently unveiled a fiery trailer of ‘House of the Dragon’, the spinoff of the award-winning fantasy drama, ‘Game of Thrones’.

Starring Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Paddy Considine as King Viserys, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the series precedes the events that transpired in GOT.

The makers of the show- George R.R. Martin, Miguel Sapochnik, and Ryan Condal offer a peek into the events that occurred 200 years before the original fantasy drama series.

House of the Dragon’ is set to premiere on August 21. HBO previously released a short teaser last year in October. However, the new trailer is much more detailed and packed with fire, haunting locations, powerful soundtracks, and the collapse of the Targaryen dynasty.

In an old interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sapochnik revealed how the show differs from ‘Game of Thrones’ but still manages to incorporate its themes and color palettes.

“I think we were very respectful of what the original show is. It wasn’t broken, so we’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. ‘House of the Dragon’ has its own tone that will evolve and emerge over the course of the show. But first, it’s very important to pay respects and homage to the original series, which was pretty groundbreaking,” Sapochnik said.

“We’re standing on the shoulders of that show and we’re only here because of that show. So the most important thing for us to do is to respect that show as much as possible and try and complement it rather than reinvent it,” he added.

Meanwhile, HBO has several prequel projects in the works that will capture the world of Westeros. If the ‘House of the Dragon’ manages to live up to the expectations of viewers, it could just trailblaze an entire franchise in the years to come.
