Dual Lipa was pictured with the Daily Show host Trevor Noah on Wednesday in New York sparking rumours that they are dating. The singer broke up with her last boyfriend, model Anwar Hadid, in 2021, and has not dated anyone since.

However, this is not the first time that rumours of her dating someone have created a stir. Previously, rumours surfaced that Lipa was dating Liverpool and England fullback Trent Alexander Arnold, which turned out to be false.

It, however, left Liverpool fans so entertained that they elevated Lipa’s 2018 hit “One Kiss” into a chant.

It started when Trent Alexander Arnold was asked by Liverpool teammate Any Robertson in an episode from the first season of Wingmen what the weirdest rumour about Trent was. The footballer then elaborated an incident where his mother saw rumours of him dating Lipa and confronted him about it. Robertson, who was visibly entertained with the reply, started singing “One Kiss” in the episode.

It landed perfectly with the Liverpool fans who had already formed a soft spot for the 27-year-old singer. Her first encounter with the Liverpool supporters happened during the pre-match show of the 2018 Champions League final between Madrid and Liverpool in Kyiv, Ukraine.

As she opened the show with “One Kiss”, the 30,000 odd Liverpool fans, who had travelled 1,800 miles to the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv, joined in and sang along with her.

“I had never played a show of that size before,” Lipa said about the performance in a 2020 interview with Liverpool’s official website.

“I get really nervous before I perform anywhere, let alone the Champions League final,” she said, adding, “I was very lucky to have the support of people back home right there in the stadium in Kyiv. I’m still shocked when watching it back seeing all these fans singing along to my song!”

The Liverpool fans have since elevated the song to cult status by performing it from the stands after Liverpool won the 2022 League Cup. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, along with the players, joined them from the other side dancing and celebrating their victory.

The same happened during the 2022 FA club final, except this time the event planners at Wembley kept the track ready and played it when Liverpool won the match. It turned out to be just what the fans wanted.

Here’s a video from the Liverpool end after the Mersyside team won the final.

In Liverpool’s victory parade at the end of the season, Liverpool players were seen celebrating from an open-roofed bus with fans on the streets. When one kiss started playing, Arnold went live on Instagram and started singing along with the chorus.

That was the moment when “One Kiss” possibly came a full circle in Liverpool colours.
