Vikrant Massey as Rishabh Saxena will make you laugh, cry and push you in panic mode in the film, which is a love story with a thriller murder mystery. One such stand out segment of the film is a ‘Pallu scene’ with Taapsee Pannu that will surely tickle your funny bones.

In an interview with Opoyi, when we asked the actor how difficult was the transformation from a calm funny person to an intense lover in the film, he said, “Every actor has one specialty to one thing that they are closer to as compared to the rest of the scene. With me, I am someone who likes the grunge, the complexity, and who likes unraveling the complexity which is laid there for me.”

“So I am far more comfortable doing intense bits because I derive a lot of inspiration from my life and my observation and I am a realist by nature so I like to communicate to my audience with my intense stuff and far more real stuff. It is very tough for me to do comedy,” he said.

However, he credits Vinil, the director of ‘Haseen Dillruba’ for making things easy for him.

Sharing some behind-the-scenes stories, Vikrant Massey said, “It was Vinil actually who knew what he wanted. Also his wife Shweta is an editor and she did a fantastic job with the film. So a lot of what you see is also handled in the post (production). It’s like 2 second se zyada stay ho jayega toh kharab ho jayega. (if the scene will stay for more than two seconds then it will impact the scene).

“ So Vinil is aware of all this because of background in advertising. He tells a full story within a minute, 45 sec, 30 sec so that is definitely an add-on. It’s difficult for me to do comedy but he is very meticulous. All I have to do is respond,” he said.

Vinil on the other hand feels that the director’s job is not done if the actor is not performing.

“Vikrant, of course, is very humble and we know his famous humility but as a craftsman and as directors we only do this much, but if actors don’t give expression hum kya karein (what should we do).

“I think comedy is a gift which some people have and some don’t have. Actors are born with it or they don’t have it…. Ap jitni rehearsal kar lo practice kar lo ..agar aap mein woh timings nahi hai toh aap khuch nahi kar sakte. ( No matter how many rehearsals you do, if you don’t have the timings then there is no point)

“I was very lucky that Vikrant had an amazing sense of comedy plus Taapsee is also like the whacked-out sense of comedy so these two were a great combination you know,” he said.

He also says that “Vikrant is like Asian pants ka shade card.”

“I can go and tell him that grey mein humein teen shade kaam kar ke dedo, he will give me that. (If I will ask him to give me three shades less in grey, he will do that) So he spoiled me to that level. If you will ask him to give an 8 percent smile and 5 percent wink, he will give you that. Some actors are gifted that way and Vikrant’s advantage is that he is a born and gifted actor. He also got an immense amount of training with theatres,” he said.

The film is written by Kanika Dhillon of ‘Manmarziyaan’ fame and also stars Harshvardhan Rane in a pivotal role.
