Based on the affection and enthusiasm for the second instalment, which was released in theatres on Thursday, filmmaker Prashanth Neel feels optimistic about extending the KGF franchise. As KGF: Chapter 2 fever engulfed the country, with fans going bananas to see the film in theatres, there is already a high expectation for the third instalment of the franchise. In an exclusive interview with the Hindustan Times, Neel discussed the idea of continuing the franchise.

“It’s too early to confirm,” Neel remarked. In cinema, you can even bring back the dead to life. If people love KGF: Chapter 2, we could think of continuing the franchise,” Neel remarked, without confirming if production on the next instalment has actually begun.
A post-credits sequence has been incorporated in KGF: Chapter 2, confirming that KGF: Chapter 3 is in the works. According to the creators, KGF: Chapter 2 was launched on Thursday in over 10,000 theatres worldwide. It’s the biggest Kannada film release ever, and it’s also been dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

On the eve of the film’s release, director Neel went to Twitter to urge fans not to support piracy. He asked the crowd not to share photos and video clips from the theatres where they saw the film. “The Fight against piracy starts with you! Please don’t take videos and photos and avoid posting them online!” Prashanth stated in a letter attached to his tweet, 8 years of blood, sweat and tears have gone into bringing you all KGF. We urge you all not to take video while watching KGF Chapter 2 in the cinemas and upload it on the internet.”

The sequel to the series was released amid huge anticipation. Yash recently stated at the trailer releasing event for KGF: Chapter 2 that Prashanth Neel deserves full credit for the success of the first instalment.
