Kim Han Bin, popularly known as B.I from the K-pop band iKON, has admitted to all charges of illegal drug use in his first court hearing on Friday. He has been charged on three accounts of illegal marijuana usage, and one count of purchasing illegal LSD, from May of 2015 through April of 2016.

B.I’s legal representative said that the star admits to his mistakes and is ‘deeply reflecting on himself’ and the ‘disturbance’ he caused as a public figure, stated the Korean news portals.
His legal representative also said that the star was only a teenager (19 years) at the time of his drug use.
“He made a mistake out of curiosity. Furthermore, B.I is a first-time defendant with no criminal or civil record, and he has carried out community service as well as nonprofit donations continuously since his debut. The album he recently released is also part of a project to donate all proceeds,” his representative argued in court, reported allkpop.com.

According to the report, B.I also gave his statement in court and said, “I made a completely foolish mistake in the past. I was young and naive, but even so, I was foolish for what I did. I hurt my family.”
The singer also claimed that he was going through a phase where he thought he ‘no longer wanted to live’ but has since taken the time to reflect on his actions.
“I will never repeat a foolish mistake like this again. I will continue to reflect on myself. I want to protect those I cherish,” he said.

Meanwhile, the prosecution demanded a sentence of 3 years in prison and a fine of 1.5 million KRW (estimated USD 1,300).
In September of 2019, during his police questioning, B.I admitted to using illegal drugs, and he was indicted shortly afterwards.
The star’s father, who was also in court, reportedly broke down while pleading for his ‘foolish son’.
He said that he should have educated B.I better and took the blame on himself for “showing off my child’s accomplishments with a big head.”
