India’s COVID-19 tally on Tuesday reached 1,16,86,796 with 40,715 new
cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare’s latest data. A total of 199 deaths were
registered on Monday. The total number of coronavirus-induced deaths has now
reached 1,60,166.

According to the health ministry’s data, there are 3,45,377 active
COVID-19 cases in the country, while yy have recovered.

A total of 23,54,13,233 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to March
22, 2021. Of these, a total of 9,67,459 samples were tested on Monday.

According to the health ministry, 4,84,94,594 inoculations
have been done in the country till Monday.

India has emerged as the second worst-hit country by the
virus, the first being the United States.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on
August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September
16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on
October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December
19.
