Harrison Ford is back in action as the indefatigable archaeologist Indiana Jones in the film Dial of Destiny directed by James Mangold. Lucasfilm has released the trailer of the film that will see Indy going back to his old ways of adventure and action.

Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny is set to release on June 30, 2023.

Cast

Harrison Ford will lead the film as the eponymous archaeologist. Another major character, Helena, who is Jones’ goddaughter, will be portrayed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. John Rhys-Davies will reprise his role as Sallah. He has earlier appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Mads Mikkelsen will portray the character of Voller, who is a Nazi hired by the US to work on the Apollo moon landing mission.

Other members of the cast include Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Shaunette Renée Wilson.

Plot

The film is set in 1969, at the height of the Space Race between the United States and the USSR. Indiana Jones is weary of the fact that numerous Nazi scientists have been hired by the United States to compete against the USSR. He is pulled into action along with his goddaughter Helena when Voller makes plans to heal the world in a way he sees fit.

Ford had agreed to reprise the character of Jones as early as 2008. However, there were disagreements between George Lucas and Steven Spielberg about the direction the new film would take. 

The film went into pre-production in 2016 while Waller-Bridge and Mikkelsen were cast in 2021.
