Taylor Swift’s name is entwined with
American pop cultural music, and the young star has amassed an ardent fan base.
Apart from her musical talent, Swift has managed to keep the spotlight on
herself while being in a series of high-profile relationships, which ended in
heartbreaks, controversies, and often good music in the form of new albums.
Now, as Swift turns 32, we take a look at some of her most remarkable relationships.

Joe Jonas

Swift started dating the Jonas Brothers’
singer in 2008, briefly for a couple of months. When the relationship fell
apart, the ‘Blank Space’ singer mentioned that Joe had broken up with her over
a 27-second phone call. Swift hurt for a while after the breakup and her lyrics
reflected resentment against Joe. However, the two seem to have buried the
hatchet now, and Joe is happily married to ‘Game of Thrones’ star, Sophie
Turner.

Lucas Till

It definitely wasn’t ‘Till death do us
part’ with Swift’s co-star from the ‘You Belong with Me’ video. While Lucas and
Swift dated for a short while, the former stated that they didn’t get along in
the relationship mostly because both of them were too nice. According to him,
relationships have friction, arising out of passion. However, with Swift and
himself, he rather liked her as a friend.

Taylor Lautner

When Swift started going out with the
Twilight’ star, it gave us one of showbiz’s cutest nicknames – Taylor squared.
However, this relationship was doomed to fail since Lautner felt that they were
simply not going anywhere. The breakup ended up giving us Swift’s exceptionally
moving ‘Back to December’.

John Mayer

Swift had a brief romance with Mayer, when
the two collaborated on ‘Half of My Heart’. However, things turned bad quickly
and Swift had no qualms pointing the finger squarely at Mayer, saying that he
was prone to playing dark and twisted games. Naturally, the ‘Gravity’ singer
did not appreciate Swift’s use of her music to drag Mayer’s name through the
mud.

Jake Gyllenhaal

The chickens have come home to roost with
this one, since the internet has nearly cancelled the ‘Nightcrawler’ actor, for
his relationship with Swift years ago. While the two seemed to have an amicable
enough breakup, with Swift making veiled references to their fall romance, her
latest lyrics show dissatisfaction with the way Jake treated her. He seems to
have ditched her on her 21st birthday, which spells a natural end to any
relationship.

Conor Kennedy

Taylor’s sweet romance with Conor turned
bitter when his parents accused her of crashing Conor’s cousin’s wedding. The
couple cooled things off, and after a while, the spark of their relationship
faded, and they broke up.

Harry Styles

The One Direction member has had his share
of romantic entanglements. However, few were as passionate as the month spent
with Swift, so much so, that there is an entire album dedicated to the end of
the relationship. While the reason for them calling it quits is not clear,
Swift fans are convinced, it is all Harry’s fault, especially with Taylor’s
convincing track ‘I Knew you were Trouble’.

Calvin Harris

A relationship was definitely not what
Taylor Swift came for, when she went to the Elle Style Awards in February 2015.
However, when her friend Ellie Goulding, introduced her to Scottish DJ Calvin
Harris, sparks flew.

The two dated for a year, but then decided
to call things off. While the reason remains unknown, the breakup was initially
on mutual grounds. However, when Harris saw pictures of Swift with Tom
Hiddleston
, he apparently felt hurt as well as blindsided. Later, the musician
went on to clarify that he’d simply snapped.

Tom Hiddleston

After breaking up with Harris, Swift was
seen in a whirlwind romance with the MCU star. Hiddleston and Swift became
media darlings but could not make the relationship last. Hiddleston,
apparently, wanted the relationship to be more public. When asked about dating
Swift, Hiddleston replied that Swift is an amazing woman, and they had a lot of
fun in the relationship.

Joe Alwyn

The one away from the media spotlight seems
to have grown the strongest. Swift and the British actor, Joe Alwyn, kept
their relationship lowkey for the most part. However, Swift ultimately gave
him a shoutout, saying that she always played her songs for Alwyn first. The two
seem to have grown closer during the quarantine, and engagement rumours have
started doing the rounds.

Swift’s fans will surely be glad if their star finds her happiness, and continue delivering memorable tracks based on life experiences.
