Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, who was highly praised for his performance in the dark thriller ‘Joker’ has recently talked about reprising the character in the sequel of the movie if it is created. The actor said that there is definitely a lot more to explore in a character like ‘joker’ and he would love to play the part once again.

In an interview with ‘Playlist’, Phoenix said, “I mean, I dunno. From when we were shooting, we started to —you know, uhh, this is an interesting guy. There are some things we could do with this guy and could explore further. But as to whether we actually will? I don’t know,” adding that he is unsure if the makers are open to making a second part of the film.

While the audience will have to wait and find out if Warner Brothers will treat the fans with another glimpse of Arthur Fleck, Phoenix has always been quite open to play the part and experiment with his character, which is often termed as a dark role.

After the premiere of Joker in 2019, Phoenix told known film critic Peter Travers that he wished to do more with his character as Arthur as the “possibilities” of where he can “go with the character” are “endless.

About the sequel, so far neither the director Todd Philip nor the actors have given any confirmation about the sequel of a joker, however, the audience desperately wants to see more of Arthur Fleck.

However, there have been several media reports suggesting that Joker 2 is happening and is expected to be released in 2023, but no confirmation has been issued yet.

For the unversed, ‘Joker’ was a 2019 highly acclaimed dark crime drama movie based on a DC Comic of the same name. The story revolves around the life of Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who is a failed joker/comedian, forever alone in the crowd. The man is bullied and disregarded by society that gives rise to a violent counter-cultural revolution inside him against the wealthy section of the society.

The film beautifully explores the mental health repercussions of a man who lives with varying masks to fool the society or maybe himself too–one when he paints himself as a joker for his day job and the other that he wears in an attempt to fool himself to the belief that he is an accepted part of the society.
