Friends’ fame James Michael Tyler died on Sunday following a three-year-long battle with cancer. The news of the actor, who was known to play the character of Gunther, dying has left friends and fans disheartened. Multiple co-stars of Tyler wrote on their social media handles, remembering their time together.

The official Instagram page of the iconic television show ‘Friends’ wrote on Sunday, “Warner Bros. Television mourns the loss of James Michael Tyler, a beloved actor and integral part of our FRIENDS family. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and fans.”

Tyler’s co-star in ‘Friends’ Maggie Wheeler, who played the infamous character of Janice, commented on the same post, “So Grateful to have know this kind and gentle man. James Michael Tyler will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

Fans also expressed their sorrow on Twitter and appreciated the life Tyler used to put into his roles. A social media user wrote, ”

Tyler was initially cast while working as a barista at the Bourgeois Pig coffee shop in Los Angeles. He did not have a line of dialogue on ‘Friends’ until he had made 33 appearances on the show, according to the 2019 book, “Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era,” by Saul Austerlitz. Over the 236 episodes, Tyler appeared in 150 of them, according to reports from Associated Press.
