America’s Got Talent (AGT) star singer in the 16th season and fan favourite Nightbirdie died on Sunday, host Terry Crews shared on Instagram. She was 31.

The Ohio-based singer’s real name was Jane Marczewski. Her death was first reported by TMZ.

“We are saddened to learn about @_nightbirde’s Passing. Our Condolences goes to her Closest Family & Friends in such of This difficult time. We Love you, Nightbirde,” Crews wrote on Instagram Monday.

Nightbirde died after a battle with cancer, TMZ reported, adding that the disease had spread to her lungs, spine and liver.

AGT judge Howie Mandel, in a social media post, wrote, “(she) was such a bright inspirational light in all our lives.we must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing I feel lucky to to have met, heard and known her.”

At the time of the audition, Nightbirdie had told the judges and the audience and judges that she had cancer in her lungs, spine and liver. 

“I have a 2% chance of survival, but 2% is not zero percent. Two percent is something, and I wish people knew how amazing it is,” she had said.

Nightbirdie had received a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell, taking her to the live shows. Her song, based on her life, “It’s Okay” was viewed by millions on YouTube. 

She withdrew from the show weeks later as her health had taken a “turn for the worse.”
