Rapper JayDaYoungan, whose real name is Javorius Tykies Scott, has
succumbed to gunshot injuries according to the Bogalusa Police Department, leaving
his fans and the world of music shocked to the core. Only 24-years-old at the
time of his death, the Louisiana native, who dropped out of high school in
order to follow his passion, first tasted success with the second mixtape he
released, Ruffwayy, which became a regional sensation.

Post the release of his third mixtape, The Real Jumpman 23, JayDaYoungan
first tasted national success, with the song Elimination garnering more than 58
million Spotify streams till date. However, the song 23 Island from the mixtape Misunderstood, later crossed this record, with its Spotify streams surpassing 121 million. The first album of the rapper which found its way to
the Billboard 200 chart was Endless Pain, released in 2019, peaking at number
70.

The first and only album JayDaYoungan was able to release during his
short musical career was Baby23. The album, released in the year 2020, has 23
tracks. It managed to peak at 46 on the Billboard 200 U.S. chart. In the same
year, Billboard Emerging Artists chart at number 36.

In June 2021, the rapper released 23 Is Back, referring to the fact that
the number 23 was often used in the names of several of his mixtapes.
Interestingly enough, unlike his other releases, 23 Is Back did not feature any
other artist. All the 13 tracks in the mixtape were performed by JayDaYoungan
himself.

The slain rapper released a total of 11 mixtapes over the span of his
career, along with the aforementioned album, 2 EPs and a total of seven
singles.

Musical influences

JayDaYoungan has publicly acknowledged that much of his growing up years
were spent listening to artists like Kevin Gates, Boosie Badazz, and Chief Keef.
His style has also been compared to hip-hop superstar Li’l Wayne by AllMusic. While
speaking to lyric company Genius, JayDaYoungan had said regarding his ambition,
“Later on in my career, when I get to a certain point, I will be signing
artists, starting my own label. Just perfecting my craft each and every
day.”
