On the day that This Is Me… Then was released, twenty years ago, 53-year-old Jennifer Lopez has declared a new album, This Is Me… Now.
The singer herself broke the news early on Friday morning after her social media accounts went quiet in the days before her big drop.

In a brief video, Lopez recreated the 2002 album cover before changing into the J.Lo of 2022, writing on social media, “This is me then, this is me now.”
The singer and actor recreated the original album cover for 2022 as a celebration.
Following her marriage to Ben Affleck, to whom the earlier album was dedicated, the Marry Me star’s current endeavour “chronicles the emotional, spiritual and psychological journey that she has taken over the past two decades,” according to a press statement.

The album’s 13 tracks include the title song as well as a number of other songs that make references to her relationship with the actor, such as Dear Ben pt. II and Midnight Trip to Vegas, which alludes to the couple’s July wedding ceremony.
According to a press release, the multihyphenate’s ninth studio album, which she wrote and produced herself, exhibits “a vulnerability never” before seen while fusing her powerful vocals with both personal songs and cheerful “celebrations of love.”

According to the press announcement, “This album is a philosophy, a reflection, a zeitgeist moment. It’s about hope, faith, and true love never dying.”
Lopez has referred to her 2002 record as her “favorite album” in the past.

She published a humorous throwback post in remembrance of the album last year, which includes clips from several of her well-known music videos from the record, including Jenny from the Block, All I Have, I’m Glad, and Baby I Love U! The project was charting on iTunes and Pop iTunes at the time.
