Jennifer Lopez is coming out with a new album called This Is Me…Now. As the name suggests, the album will extensively deal with the 53-year-old’s life as she sees it right now. In an interview with Apple Music 1, Lopez explained that this new album has been inspired by her newfound romance with husband Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2021.

This is not the first time that the On The Floor hitmaker has made an album about herself and Affleck. Her 2002 album was titled This Is Me…Then, which also dealt with her relationship with Affleck. The couple had famously called off their wedding in 2004, and took 17 years to get back together when they married in 2021.

Regarding the latest album, Lopez said that it captures “me at this moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided we were going to be together forever. The whole message of the album then is this love exists.”

The singer further added that both she and Affleck felt vulnerable at the beginning when she decided to share the ups and downs of their relationship in the album. Regarding their conversation on the topic, she said, “He’s like, ‘Oh, do you really want to say all this stuff?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know how else to do it, baby.’”

Lopez also opened up about the time they decided to call off their marriage: “Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life, and I honestly felt like I was going to die,” further adding, “It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn’t get it right. Couldn’t get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending. ‘That would never happen. We’re not going to write that because nobody would believe it.’”

The official release date for This Is Me…Now has not been revealed yet.
