Following its second season’s resounding victory at the 2020 Emmy Awards, Jesse Armstrong’s ‘Succession’ received a leading 25 Emmy nominations on Tuesday.
Actor and comedian J.B. Smoove and Melissa Fumero revealed the 2022 Emmy nominees during a live stream ceremony at 11:30 a.m. ET.

‘Succession’ centers around the Roy family, the dysfunctional owners of the worldwide media and entertainment conglomerate Waystar RoyCo, are the subject of the television series. They are engaged in a power struggle over the business while Logan Roy, the father of the family, is battling for his life (Brian Cox).
The HBO show is gonna go head-to-head with Netflix‘s ‘Squid Game’ – the first non-English-language television series to compete for the top prize.

A record number of episodes had been submitted, according to Television Academy President Frank Scherma, who began the nomination announcement. This indicates that series production was at an all-time high after being greatly reduced during the pandemic.
This year’s ballots are filled with strong contenders in every category in an increasingly crowded field.

Last year’s best drama winner, Peter Morgan’s ‘The Crown,’ was not nominated this year because it was not shown during the eligibility period.
The top awards, including best drama, comedy, and limited series, will be decided by the votes of more than 17,000 Television Academy members. The debut dates for series to be eligible for this year’s Emmys were from June 2021 to May 2022.
The Emmys do not yet have a host, though Chris Rock was rumoured to be approached for the role. The Emmy’s will take place on September 12, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET. NBC will broadcast the ceremony.
