Jimmy Kimmel, the American TV host and comedian, is set for a return as the host of the Academy Awards, the show’s producers confirmed on Monday. 

“We’re super thrilled to have Jimmy score his hat trick on this global stage,” executive producers and showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner said in a joint statement. “We know he will be funny and ready for anything!”

Kimmel has been the Oscar host for two consecutive years, in 2017 and 2018. Oscar shows hostel by him have been witness to major blowups. In 2017, the wrong best picture award was called and Kimmel had to handle it, and the following year, he had to host the show amidst #MeToo allegations against many celebrities. 

“Being invited to host the Oscars for the third time is either a great honor or a trap,” Kimmel said. “Either way, I am grateful to the academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”

Since Kimmel’s departure as the host of the Oscars, the show had gone without one till 2022 when Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes jointly did the job

“Jimmy is the perfect host to help us recognize the incredible artists and films of our 95th Oscars,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and academy President Janet Yang said. “His love of movies, live TV expertise, and ability to connect with our global audiences will create an unforgettable experience for our millions of viewers worldwide.”

The 95th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live worldwide.
