Kanye West, an American rapper and businessman, recently announced on Instagram that his anti-semitic comments led to him losing over $2 billion in a single day. 

As a result of the fashion mogul’s controversial remarks, which opponents termed “hate speech,” corporations like Adidas and Gap withdrew all lucrative marketing alliances with him.

Kanye West, aka Ye, had put an Instagram post that read, “I lost 2 billion dollars in one day. And I’m still alive. This is a love speech,” Ye wrote in an Instagram post. “I still love you. God still loves you. The money is not who I am. The people are who I am.”

This post was primarily addressed to Emanuel Ari, the CEO of the entertainment business Endeavor, who had advised people to cut all ties with Kanye West because of his divisive remarks. 

This post was shared on the official Instagram handle of Kanye West and it has received more than 1.5 million likes. 

Kanye West’s remarks have sparked controversy and people have voiced their opinions about this case. Popular brands like Adidas, Balenciaga, and Gap have also cut ties with the rapper after his anti-semitic comments.

Adidas, a leading manufacturer of athletic apparel, announced on Tuesday that it was severing its relationship with the American rapper because of his “unacceptable, vile, and deadly” remarks.

Adidas also announced that it would “halt all payments to Ye and his enterprises” and put an end to the extremely successful Yeezy line that West and Adidas collaborated on.

Ye’s clothing will no longer be sold by TJX Companies, which also owns TJ Maxx and department stores, and Gap has also discontinued carrying his YeezyGap clothing line after shutting down the line’s website.

As reported by Forbes on Wednesday, Ye’s net worth has decreased to roughly $400 million as a result of the losses and thus knocking him off the list of billionaires.
