Jayaram Jayalalithaa was born on December 24, 1948 as Komalavalli at Mandya district in Karnataka to 

ayaram and Vedavalli (Sandhya) in a Tamil Brahmin family. She was an Indian politician and actress who served as the Chief Minister of  for more than fourteen years over six terms between 1991 and 2016.  From February 9, 1989 to December 5, 2016, she was the 5th and longest serving general secretary All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The members called her Amma.

Her father expired when she was very young and her mother who was a film actress, moved the family first to Bangalore (Bengaluru) and then to Madras (now Chennai). Her family’s poor financial conditions compelled her to quit her studies after completing secondary school.  Though she had acted in a film while she was in school,  since quitting school, she now pursued that vocation full-time, becoming a highly successful star and acting in around 130 films between 1964 and 1980. Her success in the movie industry was in large part the result of her association with the Tamil actor Maruthar Gopala Ramachandran (popularly known as MGR), with whom she had been a part of around two dozen movies or more. MGR was also a politician, who founded the AIADMK in 1972 and from 1977 to 1987 was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu

Jayalalithaa wrote four novels, columns for Bommai, Thuglak in the 1970s, short stories for Kalki, Thai in the 1980s. She had an immense desire in her mind to write her but it was not fulfilled until the last. She had also written short stories. 

Jayalalitha died on December 5, 2016.
