Kavita Chawla is the first crorepati of the 14th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The September 19 episode featured the 45-year-old homemaker, opposite Amitabh Bachchan, on the hot seat. On Tuesday, she will be playing for Rs 7.5 crores. 

Chawla had waited for around 21 years to appear on the show. Last year, she could not progress any further from the fastest finger round, which left her disheartened. This time, she was determined to win and she emerged triumphantly.

Chawla encountered a number of challenges and struggles throughout her life. She had to work relentlessly in order to get educated and be independent. 

Though she was good in studies, her family wanted her to drop out of school after she passed class 10. Her teachers encouraged her to complete Class 12, after which she was compelled to quit.

Chawla shared in an interview that 30 years ago, she used to operate a sewing machine which earned her 20 rupees a day. She operated the machine for eight years. She is a homemaker with one son. 

Last year, when she was unable to make it to the hot seat, she broke down on the set. The veteran actor and the host of the show, Amitabh Bachchan, said some inspiring words to her, which she held on to.

Chawla was determined to make it to the hot seat in season 14 and win.  She said that whenever she helped her son in his studies, she learned his lessons along with him. Her son told her that it was her hard work and patience due to which she got selected.

According to her, she felt a lot of pressure as she was reliving the same experience as last year. She admitted that she faced difficulty with some questions but used logic and her knowledge to finally answer them correctly.

Chawla also narrated that she is very fond of Amitabh Bachchan.
