Kavita Chawla, a homemaker from Kolhapur, Maharashtra won Rs 1 crore in KBC season 14. She is the first crorepati of the KBC 14 season. 

In an interview with ET, Kavita mentioned that she wanted to be a part of KBC from the year 2000 but failed every time. She revealed that she is extremely happy to have won Rs 1 crore and said, “I am really hoping and looking forward to answering the Rs 7.5 crore question too”. 

The first three seasons of KBC were aired on Star Plus. From season 4 onwards, the show has been airing on Sony Entertainment Television. KBC initially offered the contestants the chance to win Rs 1 crore only. Here is the list of Kaun Banega Crorepati Rs 1 crore winners from season 1 to season 13.

1. Season 1 – Harshvardhan Nawathe (2000)

He won the season of KBC on October 19, 2000. He was a civil services aspirant at that time. After winning the quiz he went to the UK to pursue higher studies. 

2. Season 2- Brajesh Dubey (2006)

Brajesh Dubey hailed from Guna and was an electrical engineer and son of former national hockey player K.Dubey. 

3. Season 3 (2007)

The 3rd season of KBC was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan due to Amitabh Bachchan’s illness which was aired on 22nd July 2007.

4. Season 4 – Rahat Taslim (2010)

The fourth season aired on Sony Entertainment Television and was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Rahat Taslim was a housewife. She used the prize money to start a garment showroom in Giridih, Jharkhand.

5. Season 5 – Sushil Kumar (2011)

The producers increased the prize money from Rs 1 crore to Rs 5 crore. Sushil Kumar was a computer operator from Bihar and won Rs 5 crore in KBC in 2011. He became the first contestant to win such a massive amount. As per NDTV, he invested the money in a cab business with the help of his friend. 

6. Season 6- Sunmeet Singh and Manoj Kumar Raina (2012-2013)

KBC season 6 had two winners. Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, wife of Manmeet Singh, an established actor who appeared in Rab Ne Bana di Jodi. Manoj Kumar was the first contestant from Kashmir to be in the hot seat and worked as an Indian Railway employee. 

7. Season 7 – Taj Mohammed and Firoz Fatima (2013)

The success of KBC encouraged the producers to increase the prize money from Rs 5 crore to Rs 7 crore. Firoz Fatima had to give up her studies after the death of her father. She used the money to stabilize her family. 

Taj Mohammed Rangrez used the money for his daughter’s treatment for partial vision impairment and funded the marriages of two orphan girls. 

8.  Season 8 – Achin and Sarthak Narula (2014)

The Narula brothers, Achin and Sarthak from Delhi graced the hot seat and won the grand prize of Rs 7 crore. The brothers used the amount for their mother’s cancer treatment.

Megha Patil,  a housewife, and a cancer survivor won Rs. 1 crore in season 8 of KBC in 2014.

9.  Season 9 – Anamika Majumdar (2017)

A social worker, who works with an NGO, was the first crorepati of the ninth season. Majumdar invested the money for the betterment of the NGO.

10. Season 10- Binita Jain (2018)

Binita Jain won the 10th season in 2018. She won Rs 1 crore and was also gifted a Mahindra Marazzo. 

11. Season 11- Ajeet Kumar (2019)

Ajeet Kumar from Bihar became the 4th contestant to win Rs 1 crore on the show. Sanoj Raj was also one of the winners to win Rs 1 crore. Back then Sanoj was aspiring to become an IAS officer. 

12. Season 12 – Nazia Nasim, Mohita Sharma, and Anupa Das (2020)

Kaun Banega Crorepati 2020 was historic, as the KBC crorepati winner list comprised three women. The first one was Nazia Nasim, from New Delhi. The second crorepati was Mohita Sharma from Himachal Pradesh. Anupa Das from Chhattisgarh became the third contestant to win the coveted winning amount of Rs 1 crore on KBC season 12.

13. Season 13- Himani Bundela (2021)

Himani Bundela is the first crorepati of Kaun Banega Crorepati’s Season 13, which started on 23rd August 2021. The 25-year-old hailed from Agra and was a Math teacher by profession.
