Answer: Football

Football is the national game of Morocco.

The Morocco national football team is known as “the Atlas Lions”. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, or FRMF, is in charge of it.  The team’s color is red and green. The team is also a part of both Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA (CAF).

Morocco has won the FIFA Arab Cup once, two African Nations Championships, and the African Cup of Nations in 1976. Six times have they taken part in the FIFA World Cup. Their best performance came in 1986, when they became the first African nation to win a World Cup group. They did, however, just lose 1-0 to eventual runners-up West Germany.

As the first African national team in history to be placed by FIFA in the top ten national football teams, the Atlas Lions were regarded as one of the best national football teams in the world when they were ranked 10th in the FIFA World Rankings in April 1998. Additionally, from 1997 to 1999, they were the only African national team to hold the top spot in FIFA’s World Rankings for three straight years. Morocco is listed as the 22nd best national team in the world as of October 2022.

The national team of Morocco was established in 1928, and on December 22 of that same year, it competed in its debut match against France’s B team, which it lost 2-1. This team, which was made up of the top Moroccan footballers from the LMFA or Moroccan Football League, played friendly games against other North African countries like Algeria and Tunisia. These associations of settler football teams and native players competed against one another in a competition that Morocco repeatedly won, including in 1948–1949. They also had their own championship.
