Peninsula is referred to as an area of land that is surrounded by water on most of the sides and is connected from one side to a mainland. Peninsulas exist on all continents and their sizes vary from large to small. They can be triangular or any other shape like the Labrador Peninsula.
The largest peninsula in the world is the Arabian Peninsula. it is surrounded by the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. The countries that are a part of it are Oman, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Peninsulas are formed due to continental drift, glacial erosion and meltwater, glacial disposition, marine sediment, marine transgression, divergent boundaries, river sedimentation and/or volcanoes. More than one factor can play a role in the formation of a peninsula.
