Kishor Das, popular Assamese actor, on Sunday died after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 30.

He had been receiving treatment in Chennai since March 2022. Multiple media outlets reported that the actor wa suffering from COVID-19 at the time of death. His last rites will be performed in the Tamil Nadu capital. Owing to coronavirus protocols, his remains could not be taken to his hometown – Kamrup in Assam

Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, announced Das’ demise on Twitter. 

“Deeply saddened by the news of young Assamese actor, model and dancer Kishore Das’ demise. He lost the battle with Cancer after giving a tough fight. My condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Om Shanti!” tweeted Mahanta.

As per local news website, DY 365, which quoted a close friend, Kishore Das’ mother was was by his bedside duing the time of death. 

Born in Palasbari, Kishore Das was one of the most popular actors in Assam. His filmography included television shows like  ‘Bandhun’, ‘Bidhata’, and ‘Nedekha Fagun’. He also sang. Some of his hits include ‘Turut Turut’, ‘Amonoto prem hoy’ and ‘Shobta Jure Tumi’. 

 Kishor was last seen in the Assamese movie ‘Dada Tumi Dusto Bor’ released on June 24, this year.

The actor won the Asianet Icon Award for most popular actor in 2020 and 2021. He won the Candid Young Achievement Award. He won the title of Mr. Photogenic as a 1st runner-up in Model Hunt. He appeared in DID and India’s Got Talent.

“What doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger. You’d think it gets easier but unfortunately it doesn’t. During this days, I have suffer from many side effects including Fatigue, nausea, dizziness, bodye weakness, vomiting etc etc. I can’t even take over other medicine without asking my doctor. You know, reality is nothing is the same since the stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis and especially during chemotherapy. I hope for the best and also hoping that the tumors shrunk significantly after completion of my treatment. Please keep me on your prayers,” he had posted during his fourth cycle of chemotherapy.
