Lance Reddick, actor known for his roles on HBO’s The Wire and in the John Wick series, died Friday morning. Law enforcement confirmed that his body was found at his Los Angeles home around 9:30 AM.

Reddick’s death appeared to be natural, TMZ reported, quoting insiders. However, his official cause of death has not been made public.

The Wire actor’s last social media posts showed that he was very fond of his three dogs. Reddick posted about National Puppy Day, which is on March 23, on Instagram and Twitter.

In a video, the actor can be seen in a chirpy mood with his dogs barking in the background.

“And the beat goes on… #dogsoftwitter,” he captioned the video.

Reddick started his acting career in the 1990s with guest appearances on The Nanny and New York Undercover. He first featured on the big screen in 1997 with What the Deaf Man Heard and his acting career took flight from there. Later, he landed spots in Great Expectations and The Siege before securing a recurring role on HBO’s The Corner in 2000.

The musician’s breakthrough performance was on The Wire as Cedric Daniels, an officer in the Baltimore Police Department who works his way up the ranks. 

Across the show’s five seasons, Reddick was featured in every episode as he made guest appearances on other cop dramas, like CSI: Miami and Law and Order.
