Love Is Blind season 4 premiered on Netflix on March 24, and fans were quick to label contestants Micah Lussier and Irina Solomonova as the “mean girls” of the show.

The series features 30 singles from Seattle bonding in audio-connected pods, with couples getting engaged after a 10-day experience and then meeting in person to live together for 28 days. However, Micah and Irina caused chaos in the pods, influencing other contestants’ decisions and mocking their relationships.

Micah pushed Kwame to express his feelings for her, even though he was developing feelings for Chelsea. However, Micah then pursued a relationship with Paul, pushing him to propose to her and leading to his breakup with Amber. Fans were shocked by the pair’s behavior, including dismissing Jackelina’s tears over two suitors and Micah toasting Kwame about his failed proposal in Mexico.

Viewers criticized the behavior, and Micah and Irina defended themselves in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Micah explained that their humor and jokes were a coping mechanism for the intense experience, although she admitted they may not have always landed well. Irina emphasized that they did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings and hoped to mend any bridges that they may have damaged.

“Me and Micah’s coping mechanism was laughing about it. And I honestly will say on the record, 100%, I did not intentionally ever want to hurt anyone. [Hearing] that I hurt people’s feelings genuinely breaks my heart,” Solomonova said.

Love Is Blind fans took to social media to express their disgust at Micah and Irina’s actions, calling them “disgusting” and “teenage mean girls.” The controversy surrounding the two contestants has sparked discussion about the impact of reality television and the ethics of entertainment.

Despite the backlash, Love Is Blind continues to be a popular show on Netflix, with three more episodes airing on March 31. The series has received attention for its unique approach to matchmaking, but the negative portrayal of Micah and Irina raises concerns about the show’s impact on participants and viewers alike.
