Tom Wambsgans was announced as Logan Roy’s successor – the new CEO of Waystar Royco. Succession‘s season finale aired on Sunday.

Until the last moments of the show, it appeared that Kendall had finally discovered a method to garner enough votes to reclaim the corporation he claimed was his birthright. However, with an astonishing last-minute decision to vote against her brother Kendall, Tom’s ex-wife, Sarah Snook’s Shiv, helped him overcome the odds and win the chair.

The episode concludes with a cocky Tom walking into Waystar Royco like he owns the place, which, now he does. Tom extends his hand and Shiv accepts it, riding off in a private vehicle. Roman spends the final episode of the series drinking a martini by himself in a bar, possibly finally free of his father’s influence. Kendall, who appears to be lost, stands at the edge of Battery Park, alone except for Logan‘s ex-bodyguard and best friend, Colin.

Social media went into a frenzy reacting to the Succession Finale and Logan Roy’s successor.

“And that’s for all the humiliation the Roy’s put Tom Wambsgans through! Our new CEO,” a Twitter user said.

Another Twitterati posted, “losing out on your own family company and to someone named tom wambsgans at that is fucking crazy like shit i’d kms too,” while somebody else said, “Perfect. Maybe, the most perfect finale of any series. It’s blowing my mind how utterly perfect every scene, every moment, every interaction, and every word, was. We might never see that again. Finales? Almost always disappointing. Long live Tom Wambsgans.”
