Television personality Martha Stewart, 81, became the oldest cover celebrity to grace the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this week. This record was previously held by Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk when she featured on the cover in 2022 at the age of 74.
“Women of all ages, we should walk on the beach and be happy with our bodies,” Maye said at the time.
Sports Illustrated this year seeks to honor strong women who “live in a world where they feel no limitations, either internally or externally.”

Maye, a model and nutritionist, was born Maye Haldeman on April 19, 1948, in Saskatchewan, Canada. Since the age of 15, she has been modeling, and throughout her career, she has graced the covers of publications like Time, Vogue, and Sports Illustrated.

Maye started modelling at the age of 15. Haldeman was a finalist in the 1969 Miss South Africa beauty pageant as a young woman.
Her modeling career continued in Canada and the United States.
She has appeared on Special K cereal boxes, Revlon commercials, and in a Beyoncé’s Haunted music video. She was naked on the cover of Time magazine for a health issue, and she was also naked on the cover of New York magazine in 2011 with a fake pregnant belly. In 2012, she appeared on the cover of Elle Canada and in commercials for Target and Virgin America.
At the age of 69, she became CoverGirl’s oldest spokesmodel in September 2017, which was dubbed “making history” by one news outlet.
The Twitter CEO, Elon Musk was born to Maye and Errol Musk in 1971, a year after the two got married. The couple had 2 more children, Kimbal and Tosca Musk. In 1979, Maye divorced Errol.
Maye posts quite frequently about her children. Maye posted a few images on mothers day and stated: “#HappyMothersDay to all mothers.
