Meghan Markle has acknowledged that it’s “weird” to think about another actor portraying her and has offered some straightforward guidance on how they should approach the part. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been filming a new docuseries on their love journey as part of a multi-million dollar arrangement with the streaming platform Netflix.

Meghan Markle, who is also an actress, has provided guidance to anyone playing her in a recent interview with Variety. “I hope that in preparing for that role, she finds the softness and the playfulness and the laughter. The silliness,” she stated. “I just hope she finds the dimensions. Also, she can call me!”

Markle admitted she hadn’t really thought about playing a character.

“I haven’t given that much thought, to be honest. It’s all weird. You have to compartmentalize. Anyone talking about me or casting an actor to play me, will be a caricature of me that has been created for a business that makes people a lot of money. Once you can separate that out, it’s much easier to go: ‘OK. That actually has nothing to do with me.’ It genuinely doesn’t. It’s a hard lesson to come to grips with,” she said.

Prior to meeting Prince Harry, Meghan had a successful Hollywood career. She made a child cameo on a Nickelodeon news programme in the 1990s, and she frequently acted as a role model on the popular game show Deal or No Deal.

The 41-year-old described how “objectified” she felt to be on the show when she would walk up and down a lit staircase and wait for participants to yell out the number on her briefcase, even if it paid her bills at the time.

Markle began working on Deal or No Deal in 2006 and quit the show in 2007 to focus on her acting career. Before landing her central role in Suits in 2012, she made minor cameos in films like 2005’s A Lot Like Love and 2011’s Horrible Bosses.

Meghan married Prince Harry in May 2018, with some of her Suits co-stars in the attendance at St. George’s Chapel.
