Amid Met Gala’s glamours hours, a New York City couple shared a moment of love. Former assembly candidate Bobby Digi Olisa went down on one knee and proposed to Commissioner of New York City Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo.

While raising the bar of expectations for other people planning oh-so-dreamy proposals, Bobby Digi Olisa made heads turn as he popped the question.

The crowd, including celebrities walking the red carpet, held their breaths as Laurie Cumbo briefly broke down. Met Gala attendees were heard shouting “say yes”. She did.

Cumbo’s special moment at the Met Gala was not an ordinary one for her. She was reportedly an intern at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City when she was 15 and came to the Met Gala. “And now I am coming back with my now husband as the commissioner of the department of cultural affairs,” she said after the proposal.

“You know, it’s always like trying to wait for the right time. So when is the right time considering everything that’s going on worldwide? So I was just like, ‘Today we’re going to make it happen,’” Digi Olisa told reporters after she wiped off her tears of joy.

“You wait for this moment your whole life almost and for it to be right here, it was everything that I thought it would be”, newly engaged Cumbo said in a statement.
