The teaser for Mickey 17, the latest film by Bong Joon Ho, has been released by Warner Brothers. Robert Pattinson is set to star in this science fiction film, which is based on a book by Edward Ashton. Check out the teaser right here:

As per the teaser, the film is set to hit the big screen on March 29, 2024.

St. Martin Press, the publisher of the original novel, has compared the story of Mickey 17 to those of films like The Martian and Dark Matter. In the film, Pattinson will play the role of an “expendable”, a human who has been sent to a planet called Nifheim to colonise the same. However, the expendable refuses to give his place to a clone set out to replace him.

Bong Joon Ho has earlier made dystopian science fiction movies like The Host and Snowpiercer, and Mickey 17 will be a unique addition to his filmography.

The film will have a lot of eyes on it, especially after Bong’s success with his last release, Parasite, which not only became the highest-grossing South Korean movie of all time, but also became the first non-English film to win the first Academy Award for Best Film. Parasite was honoured with the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

In Mickey 17, humans are being used to serve in places where there are life risks, and once anyone dies while performing their duties, they are replaced by a clone that has most of the memories of the recently deceased person.

Naomi Ackie (Master of None), Steven Yuen (Nope), and Toni Collette (Knives Out) have also been signed for this movie.

The release of the teaser came as a surprise to fans since production on the film only began in August 2022.
